A 62-year-old man found dead inside a security services business in Mississauga’s east end early Monday morning was shot multiple times, police say, adding they have a suspect in custody.
In what they’re describing as a “targeted shooting,” Peel Regional Police said the victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at around 8:30 a.m. inside the Kennedy Road/Matheson Boulvevard area building located a couple of blocks west of Highway 403 and south of Highway 401.
Speaking to media at the scene, a police spokesperson said a man in his 70s has been arrested and that investigators have recovered a gun. Police didn’t say if the suspect and victim were known to one another, noting the homicide investigation is in its early stages.
It’s not known what, if any, charges have been laid at this time.
Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts administered by first responders that included Mississauga firefighters and Peel paramedics.
The victim’s name has not yet been released by police, nor did they provide any other details about the man outside of his age.
Police also haven’t revealed what may have led to the shooting, whether a business relationship gone bad or something other than that.
Police did say a person inside the building found the fallen man and called police.

Police said they are canvassing the commercial area in search of video surveillance footage that might aid in the investigation.
