Eddie Hearn has vowed to “flick the switch” on Australia’s heavyweight boxing scene, convinced a blockbuster showdown between Teremoana Jnr and Justis Huni can be made as soon as this year.

The declaration comes as Hearn has also revealed plans to have Huni headline Down Under pay-per-view in coming months – with options including America’s Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller’ and former world champ Joseph Parker.

Speaking with Fox Sports Australia this week, the Matchroom Boxing boss also expressed interest in bringing US superstar Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Down Under to face the unbeaten Nikita Tszyu.

Another fight Hearn is keen to make involves Skye Nicolson facing women’s superstar Amanda Serrano.

On Wednesday night in Melbourne, Hearn officially kicks off his new Australian broadcasting deal with a card topped by Nicolson defending interim WBC gold against Mariah Turner.

In the co-main meanwhile, Teremoana Jnr looks to continue his hyped career start against Bowie Tupou, with Hearn predicting another violent finish for his 120kg wrecking ball.

In 10 fights, Teremoana has only gone beyond the first round twice.

Every fight has also finished via KO.

A fight between Teremoana and Huni – who Hearn also promotes – would be huge for Australian boxing, especially after the latter seemed headed for a huge win over now WBO heavyweight king, Fabio Wardley last June.

And Hearn insists it can happen in 2026.

“Right now, Teremoana is coming up through the heavyweight division like a train,” the promoter said.

“And then you’ve got Justis Huni, who won nearly every round against Fabio Wardley; the same guy who is now world heavyweight champion.

“But I’ve never really met a situation where someone like Huni would be looking for a Teremoana fight right now.

“But in six months? In 12 months? That’s a natural fight …”

Hearn stressed however that timing would also have to make sense for Huni.

“Because he’s coming off a good win this month [against Frazer Clarke] and trying to position himself for a world title,” the promoter continued. “So Justis could feature on one of our pay-per-view cards, with Teremoana as a chief support.”

And as for who Huni fights?

One potential rival includes ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who Hearn was ringside for only last weekend in Las Vegas when he beat Cuban Lenier Pero.

The win represents the latest chapter in a crazy career for the American that includes not only cruelling an Anthony Joshua fight, but losing his hairpiece while fighting in January.

While Miller is now talking up the idea of a Joshua fight again, Hearn stressed an Aussie headliner was possible for the slugger who also won a Madison Square Garden bout against Kingsley Ibeh in January – and after effectively having his hairpiece punched off.

The UK promoter also has interest in pitching Huni into what would be a massive Trans Tasman showdown against Parker, and potentially on a card where the nation’s new KO King Teremoana Jnr fights for the Australian heavyweight title.

“For Huni to headline pay-per-view here we need to the right dance partner,” Hearn continued.

“A guy like Jarrell Miller, he’s a huge man who has got all the talk. I’d love to bring a big loudmouth American down here.

“I’d also put Joseph Parker in the mix, given he is a big name in the region.

“That’s a fight that would get people excited.”

Speaking earlier this month, Teremoana told Fox Sports Australia he would be ready to fight for a world title within little more than a year – and Hearn agrees.

Asked to compare his newest Matchroom slugger with Huni, Hearn enthused: “Teremoana comes with something a little different – concussive heavyweight power.

“He’s 6’7’’, 125 kilos.

“Absolute monster of a man with great attributes, a real boxing IQ and Olympic pedigree.

“By the end of next year, he’ll be around 17-0.

“About the only thing lacking is rounds.

“They’re so hard for him to get because he hits so hard.

“And he’s probably not getting many rounds in Wednesday either.”

“Bowie, he’s a tough geezer.

“But he’s going to walk on and get whacked by something heavy.

“And that’s going to happen a lot.

“So I’m really excited about the potential, the names would can bring down here for him.

“Because bringing big heavyweight names to Australia – and for what would be massive world level fights — with Teremoana, that could flick the switch for boxing here.”

As already revealed by Fox Sports Australia last week, if Tim Tszyu wins his impending showdown against Errol Spence Jnr, Matchroom Boxing would be interested in co-promoting a huge world title showdown against England’s Josh Kelly.

However Hearn has since stressed Nikita Tszyu is also in the picture for a world title showdown for IBF champ Kelly – where he is currently ranked sixth – or even a huge bout against ‘Boots’ Ennis.

While Kelly only recently claimed the IBF super welterweight title, Ennis is readying to challenge Puerto Rico’s Xander Zayas for the WBO and WBA titles in June.

“I really like Nikita Tszyu, think he’s an exciting fighter,” Hearn said of the unbeaten Sydneysider set to face exciting, young Spaniard Oscar Diaz on Wednesday week in Newcastle.

“And he’s going to be putting himself into a position very soon to be challenging for a world title.

“And maybe that’s Josh Kelly.

“But don’t forget also that we’ve got Jaron Ennis, who I think is among the greatest pound for pound fighters in the sport.

“And he’s going to be fighting for the unified world title against Xander Zayas (in June).

“So if he wins that, maybe we come to Australia and do something.

“I’d love to bring a big name American fighter over to Australia and so maybe that’s the fight with Nikita Tszyu, who knows?”

In Wednesday night’s main event, Nicolson defends her interim WBC super bantamweight crown against Mariah Turner – with the winner set to become mandatory for undisputed champ Ellie Scotney.

“But there’s also a chance we could bring Amanda Serrano down to Australia,” Hearn said of the superstar who campaigns a weight class higher. “And the one I think is really interesting, it’s a fight with Cherneka Johnson for undisputed at 118 pounds.

“I know they’re both friends but that is a hell of a fight.”
