UB’s men’s tennis team prepares for a rematch against Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament, after a second straight year of taking home the MAC title.

AMHERST, NY — UB’s men’s tennis team now know who they will face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The team found out Monday that they will face Ohio State for a second straight year. The two familiar foes will start serve on Friday at 1:00 pm.

UB enters the clash on the court with a 16-6 record, and an impressive roster. Four players earned All-MAC honors in 2026 (Onder Balci, Theodoros Mitsakos, Minjae Kim, and Clement Mainguy). Head coach Lee Nickell took home MAC Coach of the Year honors for the second year in a row. Nickell has won the award five times with UB.

UB won the MAC for a second straight year, this marks the first tie in program history where they have taken the conference title home in back-to-back years.

Ohio State swept the Bulls last year, but lost 4-3 to Michigan State in this years Big Ten Tournament.
