The 6th edition of Japan Week takes over Montreal from May 1 to 10, 2026. This free urban trail invites Montrealers to discover Japanese culture through more than 30 destinations: restaurants, specialty shops, and exclusive cultural events.

Without leaving the city, visitors can savour Japanese cuisine, browse specialty products, and experience unforgettable cultural moments, all through a curated trail winding across Montreal’s neighbourhoods.
Highlights to Watch For
A hundred Shiba and Akita dogs in the streets of Montreal. On May 2, the largest gathering of Shiba and Akita dogs in Canada takes over the Côte-des-Neiges plaza: owners and their dogs come together in an atmosphere blending canine passion and Japanese culture. The Nihoncha Canada Tea Festival on May 2 at Charyū par Thés Guru is a major event dedicated to Japanese tea in Montreal. It is the largest event of its kind in Canada, collaborating directly with Japanese tea producers.
Chibi Marché, May 7–10 at Time Out Market Montreal as part of FESTIVAL ASIASIE. Local artisans, illustrators, and creators gathered around Japanese culture, in a market designed for the curious and the connoisseurs alike.
