Brampton residents will have an opportunity to get a first-hand look at changes taking place downtown during the 2026 Jane’s Walk festival.

Led by the City of Brampton’s Downtown Revitalization team, in partnership with the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Association (BIA), the guided walking tour will highlight ongoing work and projects transforming the city’s core.

Participants will hear directly from team members behind the initiatives, learn more about current projects, ask questions and share feedback along the way.

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by urbanist Jane Jacobs. Held in nearly 500 cities around the world each year, the festival encourages people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover new perspectives and connect through the simple act of walking. The tour will focus on several key projects, including Riverwalk, the redevelopment of Ken Whillans Square and Garden Square, streetscaping along Main and Queen Streets, and the demolition of city-owned properties at 30–60 Main Street North.

The Brampton tour will run for approximately one hour, beginning at Ken Whillans Square, moving through the downtown and ending at Garden Square.

Following the walk, residents are invited to continue the conversation at an open house in the City Hall Conservatory. Attendees can connect directly with city staff and learn more about projects and initiatives underway in downtown Brampton and across the city.

Representatives from several city departments will be available, including Environmental Planning, Parks Planning, Higher Order Transit Planning, Development Services, Economic Development and Cultural Services.

The Downtown Brampton BIA will also be on hand to discuss initiatives aimed at supporting and promoting local businesses.

The walking tour will take place on Wednesday, May 6, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the open house from 6 to 8 p.m.

Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. More information is available at  brampton.ca/downtown.
