(KHLA Lake Charles, Louisiana) – Legendary Louisiana fighter, Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier has one last fight in him. He’ll end his storied career tomorrow in New Orleans with UFC 318.

Dustin Glenn Poirier was on born January 19, 1989 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He turned professional in 2009, where he swiftly built a record of 7–0, participating largely in regional promotions across Louisiana and the Southern United States.

Poirier’s first fight in the UFC was in 2010 with a victory against the Featherweight Division number one contender Josh Grispi.

To date, The Diamond has compiled a 30-9 record with 16 T(KO)s, 7 submissions, and 13 first round finishes. He has victories against some of the greatest fighters in the world like Connor McGregor, Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, Anthony Pettis, and many more.

Poirier will face UFC veteran Max Holloway, the current BMF Title holder, tomorrow for their third match up. Dustin is 2-0 against Max with their first fight taking place in 2012 at UFC 143.

Poirier has had some very memorable moments over the years in his fighting career. He’s 2-1 against Conor McGregor; Dustin is not only known for his powerful striking but his elite ground game as well.

He earned a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under fellow Louisiana fighter Tim Credeur. In fact, Tim is the one who gave Dustin the nickname “The Diamond”.

Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier will go down as one of the best fighters to ever come out of the Bayou State and will surely be a first ballot UFC and Louisiana Sports Hall Of Famer.

Poirier resides in Lafayette with his wife and their daughter. He’s very active in the community with his Good Fight Foundation. The foundation auctions off professional athlete’s game/fight gear and uses the funds to help underserved communities by helping fund food insecurity, to health care, and environmental disaster relief.
