Steeled Resolve celebrates Steel-types in Pokémon Go with the release of Orthworm. Alongside this, you’ve got the chance to catch shiny Meltan using the Mystery Box and there’s event-exclusive research tasks to complete. Watch out though! The Steeled Resolve: Taken Over event is also running during this event, which means Team Rocket is invading once again. Get ready for new Shadow Pokémon and another chance to battle Giovanni.

Orthworm debuts in Pokémon Go
Hailing from Gen 9, Orthworm has debuted in Pokémon Go as part of the Steeled Resolve event. You might know this worm from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet where it’s one of the Titan Pokémon. I’ve taken a look at the Orthworm counters and weaknesses in Pokémon to help you add it to your Pokédex. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a shiny Orthworm.

Steeled Resolve: Taken Over event
Team Rocket is making another Pokémon Go invasion attempt during the Steeled Resolve event, starting on Thursday 30th April at 12am (local time) and running until Monday 4th at 8pm (local time).
Giovanni and Team Lineup Changes
It’s very important to note that how you obtain the Super Rocket Radar for fighting Giovanni has changed for the Steeled Resolve event. Instead of completing a Special Research quest, you must progress through the Steeled Resolve: Taken Over Go Pass until you’ve earned the Super Rocket Radar.
I’ve covered the Go Pass in more detail in the final section of this guide, but please remember that you must reach the Rank required for the Super Rocket Radar before the Steeled Resolve event ends. You’ll then have until Wednesday 6th May at 7:59pm (local time) to claim it or else it will vanish forever.
This is quite the change up to how obtaining the Super Rocket Radar traditionally works, so make sure you’re prepared and don’t miss out your chance to catch a Shadow Incarnate Forme Landorus!
Aside from this change, the Taken Over event will run as usual. This means you need to be prepared for changes to Giovanni’s, the Team Rocket Leader’s and Grunt’s lineups!

Bonuses
Team Rocket appears more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
A Charged TM can be used to make a Shadow Pokémon forget the Frustration, Charged Attack.
Pokémon caught in One-Star and Three-Star Shadow Raids have wider variance of Attack, Defense and HP stats.
Shiny Varoom and shiny Revavroom have debuted. You may hatch a shiny Varoom from 12km eggs.
Team Rocket-themed field research tasks rewarding Fast TMs, Charged TMs and Mysterious Components can be found by spinning PokéStops.
