An assault early Monday morning in the city’s North End left two men injured and another man dead.
Winnipeg police say shortly before 3:20 a.m., officers were called to the 200 block of Stella Walk, where they found three people who had been assaulted.
Two of the victims, aged 23 and 27, were found outside, while a third male was found inside a nearby suite.
Officers provided the victims with emergency medical care before an ambulance arrived. The two men in their 20s were transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. The third victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and identified the victim as 49-year-old Robson Issac Sinclair, a member of Fisher River Cree Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.
He remains in custody.
