What, a real police station in downtown Calgary? What a novel idea! Wait a minute, did former police chief Rick Hanson not establish just such a deployment station on 11th Avenue, with a full complement of beat officers? Then the following police administrations, with the blessing of our mayor and Police Commission, promptly shut it down, ignoring lessons from other major Canadian cities regarding growing social disorder and crime in downtown centres. We had a handle on it, and we lost it.

Not what we voted for
Prime Minister Mark Carney states that “many of our former strengths, based on ties to America, have become our weaknesses…weaknesses that we must correct.” So, instead his plan is to forge a trade relationship with corrupt communist China as well as Europe, which is broken and irrelevant after years of failed socialism and open borders. I thought he was voted in because he proclaimed to be the only one who could negotiate with President Donald Trump. Instead, he plans to jeopardize our relationship with our American friends, who buy most of our exports, because he doesn’t have the tenacity to do what he promised to do, if elected. How do we get rid of this phony guy?

(It’s going to be a few years yet before the next election. But the damage that will be done in Canada before then as the Liberals allow China to encroach on many aspects of our economy may be irreparable)
Smith had to tow the line
Many Albertans criticize Premier Smith for eliminating twice a year movement of the clocks. Unfortunately they do not understand the position she has been put in. Premier Eby of B.C. has chosen Daylight time year round. Saskatchewan has been on Standard time, year round, for years. Eastern Canadian provinces are considering stopping the movement of the clocks. Give her a break. Seasonal time change was useful during WWII. It is no longer a real benefit.
