Winnipeggers interested in running for mayor will be able to officially begin the registration process next month as preparations get underway for the fall civic election.
In-person appointments required to enter race
Residents who wish to enter the mayoral race must complete their registration in person with a Senior Election Official. Appointments can be made in advance, starting May 1.
City officials say anyone registering must provide all necessary information on their nomination paperwork.
Candidates are also restricted from soliciting or collecting campaign contributions, spending any money on their campaign, or borrowing funds until their registration is complete and officially accepted.
Candidate list to be posted and updated online
Once registered, candidates will be added to an official list that will be posted online and updated regularly, leading up to nomination day.
The final deadline to register is Tuesday, September 22, at 4:30 p.m.
Winnipeg heads to the polls October 28
Winnipeggers will head to the polls on Wednesday, October 28, to vote for mayor, city councillors, and school trustees.
