South Surrey extortion suspects due back in court June 9

Three extortion suspects who allegedly fled a South Surrey crime scene in a rideshare are due back in Surrey Provincial Court on Tuesday, June 9, for disposition.
The trio was charged in relation to incidents in the early-morning hours of Feb. 1 after shots were fired and a small fire started outside a residence near Crescent Road and 132 Street around 3:50 a.m.; police believe the incidents are extortion-related.
All three were taken into custody near 28 Avenue and 140 Street after getting into a rideshare car.
Harjot Singh, 21, Taranveer Singh, 19, and Dayajeet Singh Billing, 21, have been charged with three counts each under the Criminal Code of Canada: one count of discharging a firearm into a place, one count of placing/throwing an explosive to damage property, and one count of possessing a loaded or unloaded potentially prohibited or restricted firearm with access to ammunition.
A disposition is a final outcome of a criminal charge, including sentencing, acquittal or a stay of proceedings.
The disposition is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 9 in Surrey.
