Photo radar units in Calgary will be active in 19 communities throughout May. 

Foothills commuters travelling into the city can expect enforcement in several southern neighbourhoods, including Auburn Bay, Chaparral, Haysboro, Legacy, and McKenzie Lake. The Calgary Police Service says photo radar vehicles will also be deployed in active construction zones where workers are present.

Police say fines increase based on how far a driver exceeds the speed limit, with speeds more than 50 km/h over resulting in a mandatory court appearance. 

Across the city, 57 intersection safety cameras are also in operation, capturing red-light infractions, including five locations that monitor speed-on-green violations.
