1st May 2026 – (Hong Kong) Oscar‑winning actor Chow Yun‑fat has prompted discussion online after recent photographs showed the 70‑year‑old star looking noticeably slimmer while out running in Hong Kong.
Images shared on mainland social media platform Xiaohongshu captured Chow jogging in his trademark all‑black sportswear. Known for his down‑to‑earth lifestyle, the veteran actor is frequently spotted exercising on city streets and hiking trails, often greeting fans warmly when recognised.
However, the latest pictures shifted attention from his trademark approachability to his physical appearance. Some online commentators remarked that Chow appeared gaunt, pointing to sunken cheeks and more pronounced wrinkles. A number of users expressed concern about his health, suggesting he looked more frail than in previous years and questioning whether long‑distance running was contributing to muscle loss at his age.
Others offered a different perspective, noting that Chow has been deeply committed to endurance training in recent years. The actor is widely regarded in entertainment circles as a fitness enthusiast, maintaining a daily morning run and regularly taking part in marathon events. Supporters argued that his lean physique is consistent with sustained aerobic training and praised his discipline and energetic demeanour.
Chow has previously been seen leading friends in major races, including the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, earning a reputation as an informal “running mentor” among fellow enthusiasts.
