A 34-year-old Calgary man read a letter of apology as he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with a weapon in Swift Current Provincial Court this week.
Mohamed Saleh received a 12-month suspended sentence, made a $500 donation to a local charity, and paid a $100 victim surcharge.
The Crown said on September 28, 2025, Saleh and his brother got into a verbal altercation with two men at a Swift Current dining establishment.

He pleaded guilty to striking the men with an eight-foot aluminum pole.
Saleh told the court he was under the influence of alcohol during the incident and has not touched a drop of it since.
He noted his regret, remorse, and responsibility, while apologizing to the victims, the City of Swift Current, and his family, among others.
Saleh had no previous criminal record.
