One dead, several in hospital after two-car crash in North Delta

One person is dead following a two-car crash in North Delta Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to the intersection of 118th Street and 75A Avenue at about 3:08 p.m. on May 2 for a reported collision involving two vehicles.
A freelance photographer at the scene reported both vehicles came to rest on the lawn of a home, one of them having gone through a wooden fence, and that a fire hydrant had been “sheared off” in the collision.
According to a DPD press release, several occupants of the vehicles were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Delta Police collision analysts were called to the scene to collect evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding this collision.
Officers were still on scene as of 6:30 p.m. Residents are advised that road closures are in effect in the area of 75A Avenue and 118th Street.
