2 days on Surrey stage for Naad festival of music, dance

Surrey Arts Centre is a stage for Naad Festival of Music and Dance events on two days this month, May 10 and 16.
Founded in 2006 by tabla maestro/teacher Amarjeet Singh, Naad Arts Centre is a place for diverse music, dance and literature under one roof in Newton, 6632 126 St.
Performances are not just for those of South Asian descent, Naad’s website notes. “Our passion includes introducing these arts to other Canadians as well, both as listeners and as participants.”
The 2026 Naad Youth Festival runs Sunday, May 10 starting at 2:30 p.m., followed by another “Rhythmic Remembrance” performance Saturday, May 16, 1:30 p.m. start, both at the arts centre, Bear Creek Park.
Naad Youth Festival showcases the talent of youth artists from multi-cultural academies and organizations from across Metro Vancouver.

This year’s events features Indian classical music with five-piece ensemble Singh Court, fusion band Indian Standard Time and Hollywood/Bollywood dance with Spirit of Dance Academy, Mantra Arts, Azesta Ballet, Ghungroo Kathak and Nritya Manjaree.
