Sinner first player to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles
Italian has lifted trophies in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo and Madrid in the past six months

Jannik Sinner lifted the trophy in Madrid for the first time on Sunday.

Jannik Sinner has become the first player in series history (since 1990) to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles. The Italian completed the feat on Sunday at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he defeated Alexander Zverev in the title match.
Since Sinner retired during his third-round clash in Shanghai in October, he has lifted trophies in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo and Madrid. The 24-year-old did not drop a set at the three hard-court events, with Tomas Machac eventually ending his record-setting streak at 37 in the Monte-Carlo third round.
The Italian was dominant throughout his run in Madrid, where he lifted the trophy for the first time. Sinner, a nine-time Masters 1000 champion, lost just one set en route to the crown, defeating Benjamin Bonzi, Elmer Moller, Cameron Norrie, Rafael Jodar, Arthur Fils and Zverev.

Sinner was the first player to win the ‘Sunshine Double’, trophies in Indian Wells and Miami, without dropping a set. Sinner then defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the championship match in Monte-Carlo in April, using that victory to return to No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time since November. The Italian is also the first player in history to win the first four Masters 1000 titles of the season.
Sinner is aiming to break Djokovic’s record of winning six Masters 1000 titles in a single season (2015). Sinner can also join the Serbian and become just the second man to complete the Career Golden Masters at his next event in Rome, where he reached the final in 2025.
The World No. 1 had won four total Masters 1000 trophies prior to his run of five consecutive crowns. The longest streak the Italian has previously tallied came in 2024, when he won back-to-back titles at the level in Cincinnati and Shanghai.
Djokovic (three times) and Rafael Nadal (once) won four consecutive Masters 1000 crowns. Djokovic triumphed at five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 tournaments he played from Paris in 2014 through Rome in 2015, but he did not play in Madrid that year, which came before Rome in the calendar.
