The Blue Jays were in Minnesota over the weekend to play the Twins in a four-game series, splitting 2-2 on the weekend. In Sunday’s finale, the Blue Jays fell in a close 4-3 defeat which was credited to Trey Yesavage on the mound following four innings of work in which he gave up one earned run and struck out six. Jesús Sánchez led at the plate, recording three hits on the day, while Kazuma Okamoto led the team with two RBI.

The Rays hosted the Giants this weekend and played to a 3-0 sweep, outscoring them 10-2. San Francisco gave Tampa Bay a challenge in the finale, pushing the game to 10 innings in which the Rays pulled out a 2-1 victory. Ryan Vilade and Jonathan Aranda brought in the team’s only two runs with a sac fly and an RBI single, respectively. Ian Seymour picked up his first win of the season on the mound with one inning of work in which he allowed no runs and no hits.

The Rays will put the ball in Nick Martinez’ hand on Monday night with the hopes of strong pitching from the righty. Martinez is currently 2-1 on the year with an ERA of 1.70 and 24 strikeouts. The Blue Jays have not made a choice as to which ace will get the start.
