From the Surrey Hills Society

Eighteen months ago, we launched Farm for Health.

Looking back at these photos, it is incredible to see how much has been achieved. Thanks to the dedication of Surrey Hills farmers, the programme management by Katie at Surrey Hills Society, and the support of referral organisations across Surrey, we have been able to support 175 people facing challenges with mental health, school, or the system around them.

Through hands-on farm work and meaningful interaction with animals, many have rediscovered a sense of calm, confidence, and purpose. For some young people, it has even opened up new interests, directions, and future possibilities.

The project also helps deepen a connection to the land, supporting nature-friendly farming practices, conservation, and the protection of local wildlife, while giving participants a real sense of place and contribution within the Surrey Hills landscape.

If a young person you know is at risk of falling out of education or struggling with what is going on around them, and you think time on a farm could help, please get in touch to find out more about Farm for Health :
