CALGARY – The Calgary Fire Department says a child was pulled from a community lake over the weekend and sent to hospital.
Crews responded Sunday evening to a report of a suspected drowning at Mahogany Lake in the southeastern part of the city.
The fire department says a youth was playing basketball before deciding to jump off a dock into the lake.

It says witnesses tried to help, but the child went below the surface of the water.
Responding firefighters searched the area but reported poor visibility in the water and cold temperatures.
A rescue boat was then deployed, as well as a helicopter, and the child was pulled from the water at a depth of more than six metres.
The fire department says the child was sent to hospital but it didn’t say in what condition.
