Former boxing club coach convicted of violating sex offender registration requirements

  • May 4, 2026

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A former boxing club coach and volunteer has been found guilty of failing to abide by laws and regulations around being a sex offender.

Jasper Jackson III was convicted of two counts of failure to obey laws and regulations of sex offenders.

The Washoe County DA’s Office says the owner of the club Jackson was coaching and volunteering at was not aware that Jackson was a Tier II sex offender upon hiring him in 2023.

A fellow volunteer with USA Boxing contacted the Regional Sex Offender Unit in March of 2025 after members of the boxing community learned about his offender status.

Police say Jackson had used a fake date of birth and address on paperwork with USA Boxing, had not disclosed to the sex offender unit that he was coaching and volunteering with the boxing club, and failed to disclose that he was living at a second address.

The DA’s Office says failing to do this constituted a violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

Jackson will be sentenced on June 15 and faces up to four years in prison on each count.
