Alexander Blockx is into the Top 40 of the PIF ATP Rankings after reaching the Madrid semi-finals.

Alexander Blockx has made a significant leap up the PIF ATP Rankings after enjoying a breakout showing at the Mutua Madrid Open. Blockx’s fellow semi-finalist in the Spanish capital, Arthur Fils, has also continued his ascent after compiling another impressive run that was only ended by eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

No. 36 Alexander Blockx, +33 (Career High)
The 21-year-old Belgian Blockx had not won an ATP Tour match on clay before April, but he has rocketed into the Top 40 of the PIF ATP Rankings after backing up his third-round appearance in Monte-Carlo with a run to the last four in Madrid. Blockx upset four seeded opponents, including World No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime and 2025 champion Casper Ruud, en route to his maiden tour-level semi-final.
No. 17 Arthur Fils, +8
Fils has made an immediate impact since returning in February after a long-term back injury, and the Frenchman maintained his good form in Madrid. Having won the ATP 500 in Barcelona in mid-April, Fils extended his winning streak to nine matches by rolling past Ignacio Buse, Emilio Nava, Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Jiri Lehecka. Sinner proved too good in the semi-finals, but Fils has nonetheless returned to the Top 20 for the first time since September.

No. 34 Rafael Jodar, +8 (Career High)
Arguably the breakout star of 2026 so far, the 19-year-old Jodar lit up his hometown event by marching to his maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final. The 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals competitor raced past Alex de Minaur in the second round for his first Top-10 win, while he also overcame his fellow teenager Joao Fonseca in an intriguing third-round meeting. Outside the Top 900 as recently as April 2025, Jodar is up eight spots to a career-high No. 34.
No. 35 Alejandro Tabilo, +8
Former Top-20 star Tabilo struggled has struggled for his best form in 2026 but he returned to winning ways to claim the trophy on Sunday at the Open Aix Provence Crédit Agricole, an ATP Challenger 175 in France. Tabilo prevailed from a stacked field that included three other Top 50 players including the man he overcame in three sets in the final, Zizou Bergs.
No. 53 Hubert Hurkacz, +10
A former World No. 6, Hurkacz missed the second half of 2025 after undergoing knee surgery, but he is now back on the brink of the Top 50 after reaching the final at another ATP Challenger 175, the Sardegna Open in Cagliari. The Pole overcame Matteo Berrettini in a big-hitting three-setter in the quarter-finals before falling to another home favourite, Matteo Arnaldi, in the championship match.
