A popular Italian sandwich shop known for its massive creations has opened a second location in the GTA.
Crudo Pizza & Panuozzo, which regularly draws lineups at its Royal York Road location in Etobicoke, has expanded to 40 Innovation Drive in Woodbridge — making it more accessible to customers in Brampton and Vaughan.
The eatery has built a loyal following for its oversized panuozzo sandwiches, a southern Italian staple made with pizza dough instead of traditional bread.
Each sandwich is baked fresh to order and packed with ingredients, something that has helped fuel its popularity on social media.
“It literally cannot get fresher than this. Every time you order a sandwich, they bake the bread fresh on the spot … these panuozzos are life-changing,” one influencer wrote in a video comment on Instagram.
For many customers, finishing one of the shop’s sandwiches in a single sitting can be a challenge.
Menu options include combinations of classic Italian meats such as prosciutto, mortadella, capocollo and salami, paired with cheeses like ricotta, stracciatella and provolone. Toppings range from artichokes and eggplant to tomatoes, peppers and arugula. Porchetta is often featured as a specialty on Fridays.
In addition to sandwiches, the restaurant also serves thin-crust, Neapolitan-style pizzas, along with a selection of appetizers and desserts.
The new Woodbridge location is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
