Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a major coordinated raid in Cornwall and Montreal last month seized drugs worth $4.1 million, resulting in 115 charges against 13 people.
Following an investigation involving the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, police executed search warrants at three residences in Cornwall and four in Montreal on April 16, OPP said in a media release Monday.
The raids netted 20 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 14 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 80,000 counterfeit prescription tablets. That amount of fentanyl equated to “approximately 200,000 potentially lethal street-level doses,” the release said.
The raids targeted four indepdenent criminal networks, according to the release: one trafficking fentanyl, two trafficking cocaine, and one trafficking counterfeit prescription medications and cocaine.
The interprovincial and multijurisdictional operation involved numerous law enforcement agencies in Ontario and Quebec.
