With it being a World Cup year, the excitement and passion for the game have clearly caught on throughout the NDSC community

The Nipissing District Soccer Club (NDSC) is set to kick off an exciting outdoor season, showcasing one of the deepest and most competitive player pools in its history. With teams competing across multiple leagues in Ontario, the club continues to establish itself as a growing force in Northern soccer.

With it being a World Cup year, the excitement and passion for the game have clearly caught on throughout the NDSC community.

Teams Competing at a High Level

Leading the way are NDSC’s top squads competing in Ontario Soccer’s iModel League. Representing the club at this level are the U13 Boys, U16 Girls, and U17 Boys, who will take on strong competition throughout the season.

The U16 Girls program continues to thrive as a regional hub for talent, drawing players from across North Bay, Sudbury, and Muskoka. After earning promotion into the iModel’s top division last season, the squad is aiming to build on that success and make a strong push in the upcoming Ontario Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, the newly formed U17 Boys team comprised of a blend of U16 and U17 players enters the iModel League for the first time. With several athletes already on the radar as future Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) prospects, the group is focused on establishing itself this season.

Beyond the iModel League, NDSC teams will also compete across key regional circuits: The U14 Boys will participate in the York Region Soccer League (YRSL), continuing their development against quality opposition.

The U13 Girls, U14 Girls, U15 Girls, and U15 Boys will compete in the Huronia District Soccer League (HDSL), providing strong competition closer to home.

Groundbreaking Opportunities for Pre-Competitive Players

In a major step forward for player development, three of NDSC’s pre-competitive teams the U9, U11 Boys, and U11 Girls—will participate in the YRSL as part of a pilot program. This marks the first time the club has extended this level of exposure to younger age groups, offering valuable experience in a new environment.

Additional development teams, including U8, U9 Girls, U10 Girls, U12 Boys and Girls and U13 Girls will continue competing within the HDSL, ensuring a strong foundation across all age groups.

NDSC players are currently dominating both boys and girls high school soccer leagues, leading performances and raising the standard across the region.

Momentum for the outdoor season has been building following a successful winter campaign. Both the U16 Girls and U17 Boys represented NDSC in the Provincial Indoor Soccer League, gaining valuable experience and proudly representing the North Bay community.

As participation and performance continue to climb year over year, NDSC’s youth program is entering a new era. In addition to its competitive success, NDSC recreational and adult leagues are preparing for another successful season, reflecting the club’s continued growth and full player pathway from under 3 programming through to adult leagues.

With a clear pathway from grassroots to competitive levels, the club is not only developing strong teams but also shaping the future of soccer in the area.

The competitive season officially kicks off May 16th for the U16 Girls and U17 Boys, marking the start of what promises to be an exciting year for NDSC.
