Not only Toronto! Take Ottawa. Please! Our city halls are full of leftovers. The majority of Ontario cities need a shakeup at city hall.

Mayors and councillors have never run a successful business, never made fiscal bottom line, never finessed staff relations issues. Ah, but they are a caring lot, concerned with welfare payments, injection sites, bike lanes, raising taxes, and reducing crime through gentle caring and concern. That’s why municipal taxpayers need to invest heavily in home security, street self-defence, vehicular protection and skilled accountants.

Regardless of city, we do not elect our politicians because they are self-selected, approved by other politicians, pay their fees and are presented to us as the best available. Voters have only two choices — take it or leave it.

Few bother voting, so what we have at city hall are leftovers.

SPENDING WHAT THEY DON’T HAVE

Our PM was previously a banker? His announcement in the Spring Economic Update that the projected fiscal deficit for 2025-26 will more than double his disastrous Liberal predecessor’s estimate, from $31 billion to almost $67 billion, is insanity.

Bankers around the globe will all say the same thing: Don’t spend what you don’t have. It’s basic logic, really, and yet with Mark Carney nothing has changed.

Liberals just spend, spend, spend.

WORDS THAT USED TO MATTER

There are some words that used to be important that are now disappearing from our society: Honour, courage, compassion and integrity.

Some changes are not for the better, and today’s so-called advancements are not making us better off — far from it. At least 30 years ago a Canadian could afford a house and could put food on the table. Now, a lot of Canadians can’t even put food on the table. The Salvation Army is even closing its food bank (citing financial sustainability as one of the reasons) and church in Cornwall, which is unheard of.

So find a Liberal to hug for looking after us so well.
