A reported assault escalated into a deadly incident in the city’s Woodlands area on Wednesday, Calgary police say.
Officers say they responded to reports of a serious assault at the 2100 block of Woodview Drive SW at around 5:40 a.m.
They say the victim was believed to have been injured during the assault and later died of their injuries.
Investigators believe the incident wasn’t random.
Calgary police say Woodview Drive is closed between Woodhill Court and Woodpark Boulevard, not Woodhill Close to Woodpark Boulevard.
There remains no access to the strip mall at 523 Woodpark Boulevard, with police adding that businesses may be affected.
The investigation is ongoing. More information is expected.
