A flood warning remains in place along the Ottawa River corridor from Pembroke to Arnprior, with conditions expected to persist into next week despite some early signs of stabilization.

In an updated notice, the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Pembroke District said elevated water levels and flows continue to impact flood-prone areas, driven by a combination of recent rainfall, warm temperatures and ongoing spring runoff moving through the system.

While ministry officials note that water levels have begun to plateau, and in some locations even decrease slightly, the risk of flooding remains. Low-lying areas already dealing with high water can expect those conditions to continue through the week and potentially beyond May 13 if the warning is extended.
The spring freshet is still working its way through the watershed, with melting snowpack in northern parts of the basin continuing to feed into the Ottawa River.
Residents in historically flood-affected areas are again being urged to remain vigilant, secure property near shorelines and monitor conditions closely. The ministry is continuing to track water levels, weather patterns and runoff, and says further updates will be issued as needed.

Temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild, with daytime highs ranging from 5 C to 20 C and overnight lows between 0 C and 10 C, though cooler conditions are anticipated later in the week.
Beyond the Ottawa River, a watershed conditions statement for flood outlook remains in effect for the rest of Renfrew County through today, May 6. Elevated water levels are still being observed across local lakes and rivers, with localized flooding possible in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Officials are reminding residents to keep a close eye on weather forecasts and flood messaging as the situation evolves.
