High-octane logger sports returns to 135th Cloverdale Country Fair

The West Coast Lumberjack Show returns to the 2026 Cloverdale Rodeo and Fair, but the location is moving this year.

The always-popular event will now be held south of the Agriplex in what’s being called the Backstretch Action Zone, near the area where the backstretch barns used to stand. The show is included with admission to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.

As every year, fair-goers can expect high energy, fast action, and hilarious antics at the lumberjack shows over the course of the weekend. This year, the show is being presented by S&R Sawmills.

All the regular events are coming back, including: tree climbing, log rolling, axe throwing, wood chopping, and log sawing. Those events also include the hot saw race, standing block chop, chainsaw carving, and a cross-cut sawing race.

The high-speed logger sports will entertain audiences over multiple shows across all four days of Rodeo Weekend. The event features some of the best professional lumberjacks in Canada. The competitors will showcase their strength, speed, and skill.

Cloverdale is usually the first stop on the calendar for the logger-sports season. As such, the lumberjacks are always excited to come to Cloverdale, ensuring some high-octane enthusiasm is added to the weekend events.

The West Coast Lumberjack Show performs 50 to 60 “show days” per year at between 12 to 15 different events spread across, mostly Western Canada, some back east, and a few south of the 49th.

The West Coast Lumberjack Show will feature 11 performances: Thursday, May 14 @ 7 p.m.; Friday, May 15 @ 5 and 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 16 @ 11:30 a.m., 2:45 p.m., and 6 p.m.; Sunday, May 17 @ 11:30 a.m., 2:45 p.m., and 6 p.m.; and Monday, May 18 @ 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The lumberjack show has been entertaining fair-goers for more than 40 years. The event was first showcased at the 1982 Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair.
