Police in Mississauga and Brampton have charged an Ontario man in connection with an investigation into an alleged case of online child luring.
The Peel Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation squad launched an investigation in February “into an unknown individual who was allegedly using social media platforms to lure youths under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose,” police said in a news release on Thursday.
Police didn’t say where, specifically, the victims are from.
Investigators subsequently identified a suspect who was found to be using multiple social media accounts under the following online names, police said:
“Maverick”
“Yxaikir”
“Ace.wilde”
“AceryZero”
“MaveryZero”
Police made an arrest on March 16.
Stanley Marion, 35, of Midland, Ont., is charged with:
Luring a child under the age of 16 (two counts).
Luring a child under the age of 18.
Investigators believe there might be additional victims who were also contaced online, police said, adding the investigation remains “active and ongoing.”
