Jax goes back up top and hits another Annihilator for the win!
Winner- Nia Jax
Grade: B
What a match. These two worked big and did their best to maul each other on live TV. Legend looked great trading power moves with Jax. So many near falls and nail-biting false finishes made this one of Jax and Legend’s best matches. Jax destroyed Legend with her Annihilator/powerbomb counter. What a finish.
Joe Hendry vs. Charlie Dempsey w/Wren Sinclair
Dempsey takes Hendry down and works a few submission holds. Hendry fires back with an armbar. Dempsey takes control with a guillotine. Hendry reverses it into a suplex. Hendry fires up and sends Dempsey flying with a fallaway slam. After doing his pose, Hendry calls for his finish. Dempsey counters, but Hendry counters that and hits the Standing Ovation for the win.
Winner- Joe Hendry
Grade: C+
Standard TV match. Good to see Hendry get a win, sad to see it at Dempsey’s expense.
Jacy Jayne & Fallon Henley w/Jazmyn Nyx vs. Kelani Jordan & Lola Vice
Henley and trade takedowns and submission attempts. Vice tags in and crushes Henley with an axe kick for a near fall. Jayne tags in and gets worked over by Vice. Winners- Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan
Ash by Elgance and Masha Slamovitch are shown in the crowd, both amused by what they just witnessed.
Grade: C+
Solid tag team match. All four superstars moved a mile a minute in this one, which is not a good thing. Despite not letting anything breathe, the action itself was entertaining, but it lacked any real depth. We are supposed to believe these four have an issue, but this felt more like four women just having a standard filler TV match. Jordan getting the pin here is interesting, as it sets her up for a potential title match against Jayne.
Kenddal Grey vs. Alba Fyre w/Piper Niven
Grey takes Fyre down and gets a quick two count. Fyre goes low and lays in a few clubbing blows. After a bit of trickery, Grey trips Fyre and lands a slam. Grey tries a springboard and dives into a superkick from Fyre. Fyre works over Grey. Backstage, Chelsea Green and North American Champion Ethan Page are watching the match from the back. Page tells Green he’s coming to the ring to get a closer look. Grey fires up and gets a series of near falls after a bevy of suplexes. While the referee’s view is blocked, Fyre rakes Grey’s eyes and hits a Gory Bomb for the win.
Winner- Alba Fyre
After the match, Page grabs a mic and says Tavion Heights’ pick got embarrassed. Heights walks out on the stage and says he respects Grey, but she wasn’t his pick. Heights’ pick is the only woman in WWE ever to win an Olympic gold medal. Tyra Mae Steele appears in the ring behind Page. Steele grabs Page for a German suplex, but Niven and Fyre block it. Steele German suplexes Fyre, then Niven. Page gets tossed back into the ring and gets sent flying courtesy of a German suplex from Steele.
Grade: B-
Good semi-quick match. Grey got to shine, and Fyre got a win. When was the last time Fyre won a match on any show? Also, Steele getting a chance to look like a killer was a nice touch. This writer had no idea this is where it was heading, but this was the best possible conclusion.
Trick Williams, Moose, Oba Femi & Je’Von Evans vs. DarkState
As soon as the bell rings, Evans lunges at DarkState. A huge brawl breaks out. Evans and Shuggars are left in the ring. Evans unloads on Shuggars in the corner. Leg sweep into a standing shooting star press by Evans for a near fall. Moose and Femi clear the ring. Femi lands a powerbomb out of the ring. Williams refuses to get involved. Femi and Moose toss Williams over the top onto DarkState. Since it worked out, Williams rolls in and tries to celebrate with his team. Femi and Co. aren’t interested.
After the break, Femi is getting worked over by DarkState. Femi manages to tag in Evans. Evans clears the ring and lands a series of dives. Lennox surprises Evans with a spinebuster. DarkState triple teams Evans to take control. The DarkState gimmick makes little sense, and we have been given essentially no reason to care about them; however, when they have time in the ring, it becomes clear why they are being featured. Each member of the group has potential, but they need more to do than randomly attack people. Last note: Why does Evans always eat the pin in these matches?
Grade: B-
After the match, Hank and Tank hit the ring and brawl with DarkState.
Winners- DarkState
Evans tags in Moose. Moose clears the ring. Shuggars goes up top. Moose destroys Shugars with Go To Hell. Shugars kicks out. Femi and Co. hit a series of moves on Lennox and surround Evans as he attempts a pin. The other members of DarkState break up the pin. DarkState sets up their finish. Moose, Williams, and Femi break it up and catch Evans as he’s launched into the air. Femi and Moose toss Evans at DarkState, and he lands a double cutter. Femi accidentally destroys Evans with a roaring European uppercut. Shugars pushes Femi into a Spear from Moose. DarkState surrounds Evans. Williams hops up on the apron, but decides he’s all set and walks away. DarkState hits their tossing powerbomb finish on Evans for the win.
WWE NXT Review:
Tonight’s show was a bit up and down with some quality matches thrown in. The Nia Jax/Lash Legend encounter narrowly wins match of the night honors, and the main event was also solid and worth checking out. At some point, someone other than Joe Hendry from TNA has to win a match on NXT TV. This partnership is working relatively well, but at some point, a TNA talent has to win some NXT gold. What did you all think of the show? Let us know in the comments!
