Alberta Sheriffs have shut down a problem property in southeast Calgary.
A Calgary home suspected of ongoing drug activity has been ordered to close following an investigation by the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit.
An investigation was launched in August 2025, after SCAN received complaints from the community.

Throughout the investigation, steady foot traffic, individuals using drugs in the community and appearing heavily intoxicated, and activity consistent with drug trafficking was observed.
In September 2025, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) seized weapons, drugs, and drug paraphernalia from the residence.
A warning letter was issued to the property owner; however, SCAN continued to receive public complaints.
On May 4, SCAN officers obtained a Community Safety Order from the Court of King’s Bench to close the property located at 1523 51 Street S.E. for 90 days.
Conditions will remain in place until Aug. 4, 2028, while the property is monitored.
In a news release, Christopher Fitzsimmons, SCAN acting inspector, said the outcome reflects months of investigation, surveillance, and engagement.
“Our first priority is always to work with property owners to stop illegal activity and resolve issues voluntarily,” he said. “When that doesn’t happen, we will use the authorities available under the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act to take decisive action and protect public safety.”
Jason Walker, inspector, CPS District 4, added that the investigation highlights the value of strong partnerships.
“When agencies work together, we are better able to disrupt criminal activity, maintain safe neighbourhoods and reinforce public confidence,” Walker said. “We are committed to continuing to work with all our public safety partners, municipally and provincially, to address crime in our city.”
