After a tumultuous offseason filled with CBA negotiations, the WNBA season is finally back with a star-studded matchup.
Caitlin Clark’s sophomore season in 2025 was plagued by injuries, as she battled groin issues that limited her to just 13 games. Still, the Fever made the playoffs with a 24-20 record, but lost to the eventual champion Aces in the semifinals.
With Clark out for much of the season, Kelsey Mitchell excelled, averaging more than 20 points per game across all 44 regular-season contests. Aaliyah Boston, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham are also key members of the team, while Indiana added Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Raven Johnson during the offseason.
Indiana’s first game of the year will come at home against the Dallas Wings, who are hoping to finally begin contending after two straight tough seasons.
The Wings are, of course, led by Paige Bueckers, who won Rookie of the Year last season. The point guard averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 assists in 2025 and proved herself to be one of the league’s top young stars.
However, Dallas still finished tied for the worst record in the WNBA in 2025, going 10-34 on the season. As a result, the Wings earned the No. 1 overall pick and selected Bueckers’ former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd with the top selection.
This will be Bueckers and Fudd’s first game together in the WNBA after playing several years together in college, as they hope to form a dynamic duo in Dallas for years to come.

Fever vs. Wings live updates, highlights from Caitlin Clark-Paige Bueckers season opener
1:48 p.m.: Lexie Hull picks up a technical foul after arguing with a foul call she didn’t like. The game has been tightly-called thus far.
1:44 p.m.: The second quarter has been choppier due to fouls and reviews, but the play remains close. Mitchell is scorching hot as she has made six shots on seven attempts.
1:33 p.m.: Caitlin Clark has been off from three but Indiana has still been successful in the paint. Clark and Boston have combined for 15 points in what is now a tie game.

1:30 p.m.: Sophie Cunningham’s first three gives the Fever the lead to open the second quarter.
End of first quarter: Wings 27, Fever 25
1:24 p.m.: The quarter ends with the Wings up two, as Odyssey Sims has done a nice job guarding Clark. The former Fever guard has eight points and has already forced Clark into a few turnovers.

1:19 p.m.: While the game has slowed down a bit, the Wings remain hot. Dallas has made four threes in the quarter including one by Maddy Siegrist off the bench.
1:13 p.m.: This is a track meet so far as the first whistle in a while gives the starters a chance to break. Dallas is up one point but Mitchell leads all scorers with eight.
1:08 p.m.: The game is featuring a lot of early offense. The Wings have 10 points, including a Bueckers’ three, while Indiana has eight as Clark’s first bucket was a layup.
