Two people have died after a two-vehicle collision east of Calgary that sent three others to hospital Sunday morning.
RCMP said Strathmore and Airdrie officers were dispatched at 10:39 a.m. to the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564 in Rocky View County.
Police said the collision involved a GMC truck pulling a trailer and a Ford Escape.
There were four occupants in the Ford Escape, RCMP said.

An adult male and a child from the Ford Escape were transported to Calgary hospitals, where both remain in critical condition. RCMP said the child was transported by STARS.
RCMP identified the two people who died as females who were occupants of the Ford Escape. Police said one died at the scene and one died in the hospital.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup was also transported to the hospital in serious condition.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation continues.

RCMP said the highway remained closed as of the update.
Earlier Sunday, police said Highway 9 was closed between Township Road 252 and Township Road 260, and Highway 564 was closed between Range Road 271 and Range Road 273.
Police asked drivers to avoid the area and refer to Alberta 511 for the most recent road updates.
RCMP sent condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the families involved.
