People renting vehicles at Calgary International Airport will pay a higher airport charge starting this summer.

Calgary Airports says the Airport Facility Charge on car rentals at YYC will increase from $6 to $10 per rental day on July 1.

The updated charge will appear on car rental invoices for vehicles rented at the airport.

“Revenue collected through the AFC helps support airport infrastructure projects, including a potential future rental car facility designed to improve efficiency and the overall guest experience,” Calgary Airports said in an April 30 news release.

The airport’s fees and tariffs page also states the change will help support a potential new rental car facility.

Calgary Airports says it is responsible for the management, operation and development of YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport.
