Quarterback Davis Alexander out of Portland State led an 18-point comeback in Montreal’s 26-25 win over Toronto on Thursday night, matching a Canadian Football League record in the process.

Trailing 25-7, Alexander fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to C. Spieker on the final play of the third quarter to spark the comeback. He connected with Spieker again for a 38-yard gain midway through the fourth quarter that led to a short touchdown run on the next play to bring the Alouettes within five points.

A late Toronto fumble set Montreal up for its winning chance, and Alexander took full advantage with a 10-yard run over the goal line for the go-ahead touchdown with 1:46 to play.

With the victory, Alexander improves to 8-0 in starts to begin his Canadian Football League career, a run that stretches from last season.

Montreal improved to 4-2 this season and leads the Eastern Division. Alexander missed two starts due to a hamstring injury.

Alexander completed 26 of 39 passes for 303 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while rushing three times for 23 yards.

Alexander goes for the CFL record ninth straight win to start his career on Thursday at Calgary.
