The City of Decatur will host the 2026 and 2027 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championships, affirming its status as a prime venue for collegiate sports events.
DECATUR, Ala. — The City of Decatur is set to remain on the national stage for collegiate athletics after securing another major championship event at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
The City of Decatur and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday a two-year agreement to host the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship in 2026 and 2027.
Under the agreement, Decatur will host the 43rd annual championship from Nov. 30 through Dec. 7, 2026, before welcoming the tournament again the following year. The event will bring the top 16 women’s soccer teams in the NAIA to compete for a national title.
The announcement was made on-site during the 2026 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse National Championships, which are currently underway at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
City leaders say the continued partnership reflects Decatur’s growing role as a destination for national sporting events.
“We are honored that the NAIA continues to place its confidence in Decatur as a host city for national championship competition,” said Mayor Kent Lawrence. “Today’s announcement, made while the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse National Championships are underway right behind us, says a great deal about the partnership between the NAIA and the City of Decatur.”
Officials said the agreement builds on the success of previous events hosted in the city and is expected to bring athletes, coaches, families and fans from across the country to Decatur over the next two years.
“We appreciate the NAIA’s continued trust in our community and look forward to welcoming teams, coaches, families, and fans back to Decatur for the 2026 and 2027 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championships.”
