A traffic stop in Winnipeg last week has led to the arrest of an international fugitive.
At around 3:30 p.m. on May 7, officers were patrolling the Exchange District when they noticed a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado speeding in the area.
Officers stopped the vehicle near Higgins Avenue and McArthur Street.
The driver was identified, and it was revealed he had outstanding warrants for aggravated statutory rape, soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor from the United States
Officers took the man into custody and notified the Canada Border Services Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Greenbrier Police Department in Arkansas.
The 35-year-old man from Tennessee was turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency, where he will be held until he can be returned to the United States to face charges.
