Police in Halton Region say an investigation into missing funds from an Oakville dental office has led to fraud charges against a Mississauga man.

The Halton Police Financial Crimes Unit began its investigation last year following reports that money was allegedly being redirected from a dental office into various bank accounts under the control of a person who worked at the office.

“Over the next few months, investigators utilized a variety of investigative techniques and processes to determine that more than $235,000 had been redirected to the employee’s accounts between May 2023 and January 2025,” said police.

As a result of the investigation Ngoc Tuan Nguyen, 36, of Mississauga, was charged with the following:

         Fraud – over $5000
Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000
         Laundering proceeds of crime

Nguyen was released and will appear in court at a future date.

Police are still investigating and would like to hear from additional offices where the person charged has worked.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Constable Kate Banks of the Financial Crimes Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 2265.
