Victor Wembanyama had his best playoff performance yet in a 39-point, 15-rebound, five-block showing in Minnesota.
The Spurs needed every bit of his brilliance, too. The Timberwolves closed their fourth-quarter deficit to three points on Naz Reid’s 3-pointer with 3:27 remaining, but Wembanyama answered with a 3-pointer of his own on the Spurs’ next possession. San Antonio closed out the game on a 9-5 run and made all six of its free-throw attempts in that span.
Anthony Edwards had his most active role in the series in his return from his left knee hyperextension and bone bruise injuries, playing a game-high 41 minutes and recording 32 points and 14 rebounds.
