The San Francisco 49ers are set accumulate a record amount of sky miles during the regular season.
Thanks to the inclusion of a pair of international games, the 49ers will travel 38,105 miles during the course of the 2026 regular season, according to Bill Speros of Bookies.com. It’s an NFL record for miles traveled by an NFL franchise.

The 49ers will open the season with a 7,850-mile trip to Melbourne, Australia to face the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers then have a Week 11 “home game” versus the Minnesota Vikings in Mexico City, Mexico, which sits approximately 2,200 miles south of San Francisco.
“It’s cool for the league to play globally. I think that’s awesome,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said at the NFL’s owners meetings about playing international games, per ESPN. “But as far as the team doing it, no, there’s not much benefit to it. Sometimes it’s nice to get a bye week after but doesn’t happen in Week 1.”
The Rams are scheduled to travel 34,847 miles, the second-most in the NFL. The 49ers and Rams are the only two clubs slated to travel over 30,000 miles, while the Houston Texans (28,470) and Dallas Cowboys (27,980) travel the third and fourth most miles, respectively.
All three California NFL teams are in the top 10 of most miles traveled; the Los Angeles Chargers (24,816) are seventh on the list.

The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (22,056) travel the 10th most miles this season.

All 32 teams will travel roughly a combined 628,873 miles this season, per Bookies.com. The 49ers lead the list for most miles traveled. Here’s the rest of the projection:
