Montreal police say a 59-year-old man was seriously injured after striking a terrasse with his vehicle early Friday morning in the city’s west end.
A call was made to 911 around 2:30 a.m. reporting a crash on Sherbrooke St. W. near Harvard Ave. in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood.
According to initial reports, police say the man was behind the wheel of a vehicle and heading westbound on Sherbrooke St. W. when he “veered off course and struck the terrasse” of a business.

Police officers performed CPR on the driver. He was in critical condition when he was taken to a hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
A perimeter was set up in the area. Investigators were dispatched to the scene to determine what led to the crash.
Police say alcohol and speed don’t appear to be factors.
