The music was pumping, and the vibes were high at the 5X Fest Blockparty in Surrey’s Civic Plaza on Saturday (May 16).
The free event started at 2 pm with Anishinaabe Métis DJ Handsom Tiger, followed by Surrey DJ 40K.
The event is described as the “ultimate celebration of Panjabi music and culture,” with this year’s lineup including JUNO-nominated and Surrey’s own Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga.
“Beyond the stage, immerse yourself in a vibrant festival atmosphere with curated food trucks, a bustling vendor village, and thousands of fans coming together in one shared space. The 5X Blockparty is where music, culture, and community collide,” reads a post on showpass.com.
The event also featured a 19+ VIP section, with tickets priced at $100.
Thousands were expected to attend the block party throughout the day, which ends around 9 p.m.
Other 5X Fest events in Surrey include a visit by visual artist Inkquisitive (Amandeep Singh) at SFU Surrey campus on Sunday, May 17, featuring original pieces, a live presentation, and special performances. Tickets start at $25.76 on showpass.com.
The 2026 edition of 5X Fest is the ninth hosted by Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC), launched two decades ago. Check 5xfest.com/festival-2026 for more festival details.
