A man in his early 30s has died after a stabbing at an Etobicoke apartment building, said police.
Officers responded shortly after midnight to reports of a man stabbed in an apartment near Albion Road and Kipling Avenue, said Toronto police on social media Sunday.
Emergency responders found a man with severe stab wounds to his neck and chest, Toronto police Duty Insp. Peter Wallace said at a news conference at the scene.
He said the man was rushed to a nearby trauma centre, where he was later pronounced dead.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends,” he said.
A male suspect was quickly located by officers in “the nearby vicinity” and arrested, said Wallace. Police said the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Wallace said that it appears the victim and accused were known to each other, meaning there is no threat to the public at this time.
He said it appears a dispute took place in a unit in the apartment prior to the incident.
Residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as investigators canvas the scene and look to speak with community members, he said.
Wallace said police will not be identifying the victim at this time as there are still in the process of reaching out to his family.
Anyone with information is urged to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
