Toronto police have identified the victim of a stabbing in an Etobicoke apartment building Sunday as 33-year-old Abdi Wali Aden of Toronto, police said Monday.

A 32-year-old Toronto man is facing a second-degree murder charge after the incident, Toronto police said in a news release.

Just after midnight on Sunday, emergency responders found a man with severe stab wounds to his neck and chest, Toronto police Duty Insp. Peter Wallace said at a news conference following the incident.

The man was later identified to be Aden.  When found, he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, Wallace told reporters on Sunday.

Wallace said it appears the accused and Aden knew each other and were involved in a dispute in the apartment before the stabbing happened.

The accused was set to appear in court Sunday at 2 p.m., police said Monday.
