I read with interest the comments of Mayor Locke, and it is an impressive list of wants.
One area I hope she and her staff also concentrate on it protecting our tree canopy from clear cutting. It is wonderful to have regulations and great sounding wants, but without ensuring compliance they mean nothing.
We are seeing clear cutting for new construction and illegal tree cutting on weekends when staff is not around. We need more enforcement officers and especially on weekends.
When we do even a basic amount of research on the benefits of the tree canopy, it is shocking, and we need to pay more attention to it.
