Fireworks continue to be a problem in Brampton, as other incidents aside from what took place at Chinguacousy Park on Victoria Day are now being reported.
This amateur video, confirmed by Peel Regional Police to be from Brampton, shows a vehicle driving through the parking lot of a plaza while the passenger and driver shoot fireworks as people scatter.
The vehicle then speeds away from the scene, but the shooting continues along the street.
“We are very aware of the videos circulating of that particular incident, and it’s important to add that we also have video from that, and very clear video, from our drones,” said Peel police spokesperson Tyler Bell-Morena. “Just because those people haven’t been arrested yet doesn’t mean that investigators aren’t reviewing that content and will be following up.”
Bell-Morena went on to say that those who were shooting fireworks from the cars will face charges if they are identified.
“This goes beyond just kids and horseplay,” he continued. “Fireworks are meant to be fired in the air. This was a complete disregard for safety. There can be substantial harm caused by this, especially if you are hit in the head or the face. We’ve seen people seriously injured before. This goes beyond regular horseplay.”
