One person has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and area schools have been partially locked down after a stabbing near one of Mississauga’s busiest intersections early Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Peel Regional Police report they’re on the hunt for an unknown number of culprits, possibly two, in connection with the noon-hour violence that erupted at Hurontario Street and Agnes Street, just steps north of Dundas Street.
Police have revealed few details, saying only that one male victim was transported to hospital “in life-threatening condition.”
The culprits were last seen fleeing eastbound on Agnes Street, police said, adding more details will be released as the investigation continues.
Police added area schools have been placed in hold-and-secure mode as a precaution.
They didn’t specify what schools are included in the partial lockdown order, but schools in the area include TL Kennedy Secondary School among several located farther away from the incident.
Police say southbound Hurontario Street has been shut down to traffic south of Agnes Street.
