The City of Pickering’s campaign cracking down on litter and illegal dumping is working.

The city shared of a picture on Facebook Friday of a bunch of trash dumped in a wooded area.

They say the person responsible for the illegal dumping was fined $3,000. The city added it would have been cheaper for the person to dispose of it properly.

City officials have laid more than 50 charges in the last year and say reports tipping them off about illegal dumping are rising. By-law officers are also patrolling for more frequently in high-complaint areas.

If you see someone dumping trash illegally, report it. You can email customercare@pickering.ca or call 905-683-7575.
