WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – On a chilly May day in central Wisconsin, area soccer, baseball and softball teams were in action with the regular season winding down.
In soccer, SPASH won a battle of the top two teams in the Valley, beating Wausau West 3-0. SPASH’s win gives them sole posession of first place, breaking the tie with West that they had going into the night. SPASH will play Marshfield next on Thursday while West will play East.
In baseball, Auburndale overcame an early 3-0 deficit to beat Merrill 10-3 at home. The Eagles are back at home on Thursday, playing Prentice. Merrill’s next game is against Antigo on Thursday.
On the nearby softball diamond, Auburndale picked up a win there as well. The Eagles beat Neillsville 13-3. Both teams now turn toward the WIAA postseason. Auburndale is a #2 seed in D4. Neillsville is #8 in D3.
